Barnegat Fire Depts New Ladder Gets First Call
The Barnegat Fire Department Station 11 of Barnegat, NJ had the honor of rolling out it's brand new 105' Ladder to its first call. The call came in on December 13 for a rescue assignment. Was it someone stuck in a burning building? Someone injured on a roof that needed to be moved? A tree climber in a perilous position? NOPE! A cat from Burr Street thought it would be a good idea to climb to the top of a tree and hang out for a day. 24 hours after the cat was still in the tree and no luck by the owners or animal control to coax him down, they decided to put a call into local Fire Chief Mike Moore for some assistance. Without delay, members of Station 11 responded and rescued the cat to the excitement of some very happy owners. We in the fire service have heard the age old question, Have you ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree? for many, many years. However, it is always good to give owners piece of mind.
It is good to see that no matter how small the call we as firefighters are always willing to help our community. The new ladder will be a huge asset to the town of Barnegat giving the fire dept. some very specialized equipment to assist them in serious emergencies. Although this wasnt the most exciting first call for the new truck, it was a rescue none the less.
