Tired of paying top prices for all those chemicals to keep your pool water clean.  Did you know most of the chemicals sold at pool supply places are readily available at your local supermarket and hardware stores at much lower prices.  Here is a list of items that can be used instead of those expensive ones.

1. Regular Household Bleach instead of chlorine. It is a sanitizer.  One gallon of bleach will usually raise the chlorine content by 2ppm in 30,000gals. of water

2. Borax instead of Ph Increaser.  Borax raises Ph dramatically.  Start with 72oz. per 10,000gals. of water.

3. Muriatic acid instead of Alkalinity Decreaser.  Used to decrease the alkalinity in water.  Start with 32oz. to every 10,000gals. of water.   This is an ACID and must be handled CAREFULLY!!!

4. Baking Soda instead of Alkalinity Up or increaser.  Start with 2lbs. per 10,000gals. of pool water.

These items can also be used in hot tubs.  Check out the prices on pool chemicals and compare to the household products.  You may be pleasantly suprised!

HAPPY SWIMMING!
